Reflect Your Light

Designed for the 2025 IESNYC Student Lighting Competition, where students were prompted to create a light that diffused harsh modern LED lights. I designed and fabricated a rotating lamp based on phototropism, which is a natural process where plants follow sunlight to gain energy, most classically observed in sunflowers. In this tabletop lamp, an artificial sunflower, locked in tandem with a bright spotlight on a lazy Susan, reflects and diffuses the light, reminding users that by following their light, they can create beauty in their lives.
